Elberta, Alabama is a small, agriculture town, situated on U.S. Highway 98 about five miles east of Foley. It was founded in 1903 by a Chicago-based land company and built by farmers who had immigrated from Germany to the Midwest. Its roots are evidenced twice a year during the Elberta German Sausage Festival. It is also home to the Baldwin County Heritage Museum and a public library, staffed by volunteers.
